Where Have We Been Hiding

It’s been awhile since you’ve heard from us here on With Husband In Tow. It seemed that we announced our move to Girona, and that we had quit the nomadic life, and then, poof! We’re gone. I started to worry that people would think we had given up the culinary travel blog because we’ve given up the nomadic life.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The thing is, it’s true, the blog has not been our focus for the last 2 months. At first, we just took August off because blog traffic tends to decrease in August anyway. But, now it is October, so what is our excuse?

Part of the story does involve our move to Girona. We were tired and wanting to settle. We’ve been cooking at home (a lot) and trying out new recipes. And, we have not left Girona since early June, other than a quick city break in Paris. Without travel, it’s hard to come up with new and exciting stories for the travel blog each week.

But, that’s only part of the story.

The Glamorous Location Independent Lifestyle

Many people believe we live the glamorous life of travel bloggers, jetting off from one city to the next. This summer, nothing could be further from the truth. Instead, we’ve just launched a new business. And, that, my friends, is where we have been hiding the last few months.

We knew that to properly launch our new business, we needed to be stationary and focused. That meant giving up travel for awhile, but it was worth it in the end. We could not have done what we have done without these few months of dedicated work, 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week. Hardly the glamorous life, right?

Sure, we are location independent, but that independence doesn’t seem all that glamorous when I spend my days in pajama pants, sitting at a dining room table, in front of a big microphone.

WHIT Media

So, what have we been spending our time doing? About two years ago, we launched WHIT Media, a social media consulting and training company dedicated to hotel and hospitality brands. We’ve had some great success consulting on a monthly basis for some hotel clients, and have conducted in-person trainings that have been a lot of fun.

But, we wanted to take things up a notch. We just launched an online social media training school for hotels. We’ve started with 5 courses, and about 30 hours of lecture material. We will be adding additional courses over the coming months as well. Our goal is to help hotels, big and small, to transform their social media, to increase bookings, and improve their online brand.

We are super excited. And, super tired. I am glad we took the time to focus, and we are really proud of the work we’ve done. We’ve already been told by PR professionals and hotels that our courses are unlike anything they’ve seen in the hotel industry before.

What’s Next for With Husband in Tow and WHIT Media

Where does that leave us? Once again balancing multiple businesses. The life of an entrepreneur. We will be traveling for conferences, and working to promote our online school. And, we will be creating more courses in the future as well.

As for the travel blog, we are committed to continuing to share our adventures in food and wine. We have a trip this week to Mauritius, a new country for us. And, the tropical retreat is just the break we need from the doldrums of our petite Girona apartment. After that, a trip to see family in Ireland, and a return trip to eat our favorite foods in Emilia Romagna. We are searching for some warm weather travel for the cold and rainy winters in Girona.

And, we will continue to share our stories from Costa Brava. We are continuing to work on food, wine, and cocktail related stories inspired by the gastronomy of Catalunya.

But, in the immediate future, I see toes in the sand, and a tropical drink next to me. At least for a week, we will be back to the more glamorous life of a travel blogger. Off to Mauritius we go!

Because we’ve taken this little hiatus from the blog, we thought it would be a perfect time to ask our readers where should we go from here? I’m interested in knowing what kind of content you want to see more of. If you wouldn’t mind taking just 2 minutes to answer 7 questions, we would greatly appreciate. Take the survey here. And, thank you for continuing to support With Husband In Tow. Do you believe it’s been 5 years?
